THAXTON, Thomas Service in NC. Disabled in service. Pension Application 23 Jul 1823. Simpson Circuit Order Book AL, p. 8 1-82. Witnesses: Robert Rankins, Allen Jones, Jr. Has had 21 children, 7 living with him.

TROWELL, William Service in 1st NC Regiment. SC Prison. Wounded at Battle of Brandywine. Pension Application 14 Jul 1824, Simpson Circuit Order Book AL, p. 237. Witnesses: James Cummings, Charles Cummings. Wife is very old. He is disabled.

WARD, James md Elizabeth HENSON, sister to John and Jesse Henson.  d 17 November 1830 Pope Co, IL   Lived on the Simpson Co/Allen Co. border of the Middle Fork of Drakes Creek.  (info by Martha Jackson, added 26 January 2004)

WEST, William VA Naval Service. Pension #S14827. Applied on 16 Aug 1832 while living in Robertson Co TN. Born 1745. Died 1846. Listed on Simpson 1819 tax list, Simpson 1820 Census. Died at home of his daughter Elsy, wife of James Milliken who was a Baptist minister and member of Sulphur Spring Baptist Church. Thought to be buried in Milliken Cemetery in SW Simpson County.

WHITESIDES, William Served from SC. Pension #S1885. See p. 481 Families Past and Present. Buried in Whitesides Cemetery at site of Cedar Bluff College.

WILLIAMS, James Pvt VA Militia. Pension Application #W65 10, dated 4 Mar 1831, age 78. Buried in Williams Cemetery on Asher Smith Farm on Rapids Road. Born 15 Jun 1756, died 11 Jun 1837. Marr (1) Elizabeth Watson. Marr (2) Eleanor Barnard 30 Aug 1796 in Sullivan Co TN. She is buried in Williams Cemetery. Born 15 Sep 1773, died 1862. DAR Patriot Index: b. 1756 DE, died 11 Jun 1837 KY.

WILLIAMS, John Pvt NC line. Pension #9017. Application 4 Mar 1831, age 75. Present at execution of Major Andre, noted British spy. DAR Patriot Index: b. 1759 NC, d. 30 Aug 1833 KY. Married March 1786 in Bertie Co NC to Judith King.

WOODS, John Served SC. Pension application: Simpson Circuit Order Book C, page 348. Witnesses: Michael Woods, Randolph Miller. Married Polly Caudill, daughter of Thomas Aaron Caudill. Probably buried in Joe Smith Cemetery on Black Jack Road. Listed in Simpson 1819 tax list, Simpson 1820 Census.

WRIGHT, Jarrett Served VA. Pensioner. DAR Patriot Index: b. 29 Mar 1758 VA - d. 20 Dec 1835 KY. Marr. Elizabeth Griffin in Aug 1781. Lived on Trammel’s Fork of Drakes Creek. Buried in Smith Cemetery, p. 251.
